Job Description
This individual will work with business partners to address business goals/current business challenges through the development of insights and actionable strategies, informed by industry, consumer and advisor research.
Responsibilities
* Act as a catalyst to move the Ameriprise Financial brand forward and improve its position in the marketplace. To do this you will be required to organize, gather, analyze and disseminate market insights and business intelligence used in strategic and tactical decision-making.
* You will be an experienced account planner/strategist that thrives on working in a fast paced environment. You will be responsible for not only understanding the data but also reviewing the data through cultural, emotional, psychological, economic and anthropologic filters to really understand the 'why and how' to help solve the business problems. External vendor management and internal stakeholder management are critical functions of this role.
* You will support the Ameriprise organization, leveraging research to improve strategic inputs and outputs in support of key projects and initiatives. You will be able to clearly define business issues, frame research objectives together with the business, implement the appropriate methodologies and organize communication and presentation of results, ensuring that business partners can easily understand the results and related implications.
* As such, you will drive new consumer insights into the organization and work with business partners to influence decision making - helping them shape/reshape initiatives into unique brand differentiating propositions. You will conduct internal presentations, workshops and training sessions based on research data and results - presenting research findings to diverse audiences with a keen understanding of the variations of each audience.
Required Qualifications
* BA/BS in social sciences, communications, marketing, market research or business.
* Minimum of five years of market research, account planning or other relevant experience.
* Original thinking and an understanding of how to apply it to answer business questions.
* Proactive, flexible and able to handle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
* Effective at working cross functionally in a large, matrixed organization.
* Problem solver.
* Persuasive, effective communicator, able to provide thought leadership and guide understanding and decision making at all levels of leadership.
* Consumer & Advisor Representative: exhibits a genuine passion for the consumer and advisor. Identifies and understands consumer and advisor needs and applies that to business issues and decisions.
* Ability to synthesize large quantities of information, create linkages, and express complex concepts in a concise and audience-relevant manner.
* Experience with programming and managing consumer experience surveys (e.g. Qualtrics) preferred.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Numerate, understand common statistical practices with respect to market research.
* Strong project management skills.
* Ability to thrive in rapidly changing environment.
* Agency experience in account/brand planning function a plus.
* Excellent MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint presentation skill.
