The Space Technical Analyst will work closely with a team of colleagues to analyze the space issue as it relates to national security. This person will serve both as the technical analyst of space systems, as well as a mentor to other analysts who will draw heavily on his/her experience in the industry both to inform their analyses and gain expertise of their own.
On the technical side, the analyst will be asked to develop models of effects of the space systems/weapons listed below, and perform first-order trade studies of potential system performance. He or she will track developments in both domestic and foreign space systems, and flag issues that are of concern for national security. He or she will contribute to written analyses of such developments. The analyst may also be asked to develop new research methodologies to assess the impact of new systems or industry developments. Knowledge of both domestic and foreign programs and systems is highly desired. Some travel to technical conferences may be required in order to keep abreast of new developments in the industry.
On the mentoring side, the Space Technical Analyst must be fully integrated with the team of analysts, so that they gain maximum benefit from his or her experience and knowledge of space technologies. The Space Technical Analyst should proactively seek opportunities to engage with his or her colleagues in order to find opportunities to support their work with his or her experience and knowledge. The Space Technical Analyst will work with colleagues from a variety of academic backgrounds on a daily basis, requiring him or her to be skilled at explaining scientific concepts to a range of audiences and helping to deepen team members' expertise on the subject. He or she will be asked to present informal talks on space-related subjects, intended for a wide (non-specialist) audience, on a regular basis. He or she will also be asked to develop and teach courses related to space technologies several times a year, as required by the contract.
Qualifications:
The position requires a BS degree and 8-13 years experience working in one of the fields listed below, 15 or more years experience is desired; knowledge of multiple fields is highly desirable. Ability to obtain a TS/SCI with polygraph is mandatory.

Experience in any of the following: space launch vehicles, satellite technology, design, development, manufacturing and subsystem integration, high-energy lasers, directed energy weapons, electronic warfare and navigation warfare, and how these capabilities could be operationally employed, understanding of how satellites are integrated into command, control and targeting functions to include communication, early warning, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems.
