Position Summary

The Senior Digital Marketing Specialist is a key member of the Digital Marketing team and will play a critical role in the success of City of Hope's awareness, marketing and fundraising efforts. The Specialist will manage web and digital marketing projects from inception to delivery on time and on budget and will serve as the primary point person and liaison on projects for other departments. It will be the Specialist's responsibility to gather, understand, analyze and reconcile business, marketing and technical requirements, and to manage those projects' schedules, resources and clients in order to execute the creation of compelling digital content for multiple online channels.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator who is passionate about digital content and who excels at tackling multiple projects concurrently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. He/she will have a role that combines hands-on production updating websites and blogs, designing, coding and deploying emails, designing web graphics, creating and curating content, integrating with social media and paid/offline efforts, analyzing data, producing analytics reports and more. The ideal candidate will possess superb client management, problem solving, oral and written communications skills, and will be a master at navigating projects through many processes and stakeholders. He/she must also be able to seize opportunities to be a consultant, analyst, educator and resource for all things web and digital.

Essential Functions

  • Liaison between colleagues, team members and 3rd party vendors on all aspects of digital projects, including, but not limited to, gathering project business, marketing and technical requirements, producing and/or coordinating production of deliverables, reporting and analytics. Apply expertise to support client needs and objectives via published online content.
  • Utilize several CMS/CRM systems such as Oracle WebCenter, Oracle Marketing Cloud to build and maintain websites, emails and landing pages.
  • Update and optimize content for websites and blogs, including posting new content and editing existing pages with copy, graphics, multimedia, social media, etc.
  • Assist with SEM/SEO efforts by creating/strengthening keyword optimization in digital copy and implementing search best practices. This may include research on keywords with SEO/SEM competitive tools and search engine algorithms.
  • Assist with the research and analysis of City of Hope's current digital marketing/advertising presence and develop efforts to improve organic/paid reach and brand awareness.
  • Design and code email blasts as needed (customize using HTML 4/5, JavaScript and CSS as necessary); utilize email marketing platform (Eloqua, Convio/Luminate) to coordinate and execute email marketing campaigns; coordinate email distribution lists; ensure CAN-SPAM and email marketing best practice compliance.
  • Assist with digital analytics to monitor ROI and KPIs, using Google Analytics, Tableau, Convio/Luminate and other analytics tools; create digital and email analytics reports as needed.
  • Create, edit and optimize digital, web, email and social media content, including, but not limited to, copy writing and editing, creating and editing graphics and images, proofreading for quality and accuracy, and adhering to style guidelines and technical specifications.
  • Ensure timely deliverable of all projects and assignments; communicate regularly with supervisors and colleagues as needed to set and manage expectations.
  • Manage other ad hoc projects as assigned or requested by colleagues, including those that may not be web or digital in nature.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree. Equivalent work experience may be substituted.
  • Four to five years of digital marketing experience; four to five years of experience as a digital producer; three to five years SEO/SEM and analytics; three years of client management experience; experience with social media and digital advertising.
  • Master's Degree preferably in Marketing, Communications or related field preferred.
  • Digital, web and email design/production/development, integrated marketing, communications, public affairs and/or advertising. Previous experience in healthcare, science or an academic setting highly desired but not required.

Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent project management skills; polished and diplomatic client management skills; solutions oriented, solid troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • High competency in HTML 4/5, CSS and responsive design; email coding experience highly preferred; experience with JavaScript coding a plus.
  • High competency with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Experience with CMS systems such as Oracle WebCenter and CRM systems and marketing automation software, particularly Oracle Marketing Cloud, Eloqua and Convio/Luminate.
  • Knowledge of SEM/SEO, content marketing, email marketing, Google AdWords/PPC advertising and social media.
  • Experience with Google Analytics and other tools for campaign measurement.
  • Experience with digital workflows and deliverables (discovery, requirements gathering, wireframes, visual comps, technical diagrams, etc.), principles of digital and email usability, architecture, search and interfaces; digital and email marketing best practices and other functions related to digital marketing and communications.
  • Experience with copy writing and editing for digital and the web, and storytelling via the web, social media and offline channels.
  • High level of attention to detail; high desire to meet the objectives and needs of internal clients and stakeholders; high desire to develop engaging online digital content and experiences.
  • Able to work seamlessly in a team development environment, with many team members across all disciplines and departments (Media, Creative, ITS, Marketing, Legal and other internal departments).
