Seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a 3-5 month contract to assist our Product Optimization Engineering Organization.

  • The candidate will support the design and manufacturing of Water Analysis Instruments used in industrial and lab environments.
  • Project work will focus on design and quality enhancements to current products.
  • This hands-on position requires problem solving, teamwork, excellent communication and experience with mechanical assembly & design.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create/update CAD drawings, models and engineering documents such as work instructions, and BOMs
  • Manage small design changes to resolve issues, obsolescence and improve manufacturability
  • Perform testing and failure analysis on customer returns
  • Assist with material and component selection, specifications, testing, and analysis as needed
  • Troubleshoot systems and components for timely resolution of quality and production issues
  • Optimize current product designs to improve quality, reduce costs and improve regulatory compliance
  • Evaluate non-conforming material through tolerance studies
  • Self-manage engineering projects with minimal guidance
  • This position will Interface with Manufacturing Engineering, R&D, Compliance, Quality, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Product Management groups.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelors Science in Mechanical Engineering, Associates Degree can be substituted with 7+ years of experience.
  • Minimum of 3 Years of experience in mechanical or machine design, preferably within the instrumentation/laboratory equipment industry
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, SolidWorks Familiar with ERP software (SAP, Oracle)
  • Engineering Project experience Familiar with Bill of Materials (BOM) and production routings
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with working independently from engineering documents
  • Ability to communicate and work well in cross functional team environments
