The Manager of Commercial Product Strategy is responsible for the end-to-end success of his/her assigned products areas. The Manager leads strategic development of Commercial products and services, working closely with colleagues in Commercial Sales, Marketing and Competitive Intelligence to identify market trends, understand customer needs, and leverage opportunities to enhance our existing product portfolio to differentiate in the marketplace. The Manager often recommends new opportunities directly to senior management, using formal presentations to explain his/her business rationale and expected return on investment. Potential areas of product innovation are wide ranging and may involve development of the core health insurance product, ancillary products, member tools, alternative funding arrangements, client tools, care management services, wellness services, and provider engagement programs. As new product development tends to be complex and resource intensive, the Manager also serves as Business Lead for Commercial product projects, mobilizing internal and external resources to implement and launch new offerings. Post-launch, the Manager retains the role of Business Lead for designated product areas and is responsible for end-to-end product oversight, ensuring that we maintain operational readiness, regulatory compliance, and overall competitiveness in the commercial marketplace. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS* (in order of importance) * Evaluate new product opportunities and growth initiatives (e.g., new products, partnerships, sales/marketing initiatives, new markets) for the Commercial business using qualitative and quantitative analyses of competitor, consumer, provider, regulatory, and financial information * Lead cross-functional assessments to understand strategic implications and operational requirements associated with new opportunities and initiatives by working closely with sales, marketing, network development, product management, health plan operations, clinical services, and IT * Develop business cases regarding product opportunities * Present findings to senior leaders * Serve as business lead and subject matter expert for implementation of product opportunities and growth strategies * Collaborate with PMO to develop implementation plans for product opportunities * Collaborate with the corporate strategy team on research and analysis of business opportunities and own the handoff of corporate-strategy-initiated projects to the product team * Monitor competitive and consumer landscape using public and proprietary sources of quantitative and qualitative data to identify and understanding emerging trends and business opportunities, e.g., membership trend data, regulatory and financial filings, consumer research * Synthesize data of multiple types (quantitative and qualitative) and sources to produce consumer and market insights to drive product strategy (product, price, placement), sales and marketing strategy, innovation, and growth initiatives EDUCATION: (Minimum education required) * Bachelor's degree required. MBA preferred. EXPERIENCE: (Years of experience) * 5+ years of product management, business analyst, product development or sales and marketing experience. * Health insurance or ancillary benefits experience is preferred. * Prior experience creating and leading presentations strongly preferred.
