Maintenance Mechanic 1st Class– Flexsys America LP, Monongahela, PA Site.  This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

 

Specific Accountabilities:

The responsibilities of the Mechanic 1st Class include but are not limited to the following mechanical and E&I requirements:

  • Safely perform general mechanical work as required including construction, repairs, modifications, inspections, and troubleshooting.
  • Mechanical job assignments include rebuilds to OEM specifications and tolerances, repair, precision alignment and replacement of pumps, blowers, compressors, alignment, bearings, piping, valves, cranes & rigging, heat exchangers, refrigeration systems, gear reducers, hydraulic systems, boilers, steam systems, screw conveyors, pressure vessels, storage tanks, and other equipment.
  • Safely perform general electrical and instrumentation work as required including construction, repairs, modifications, inspections, and troubleshooting.
  • Process instrumentation calibration using software for planning, managing and documentation.
  • Electrical and Instrumentation job assignments include AC single and three phase electric power up to and including 480 volts, control and signal applications of AC and DC, conduit installation, instrument work, minor pipe connections, wiring methods, use of tools, PLC troubleshooting and repair, Safety Integrity Level Instrumentation procedures, wireless instrumentation configuration and installation. 
  • Must have a strong aptitude for trouble-shooting and solving problems with mechanical equipment, low voltage electrical equipment, instrumentation and electronic control systems (PLCs, DCS) including simple control logic.
  • Troubleshoots issues with motor control circuits, including variable frequency drives.
  • Understanding of electrical safety codes and process safety requirements.
  • Use CMMS computer system for documenting maintenance work.
  • Write, review and follow all standard operating procedures and job analyses.
  • Participate in hazard reviews, MOCs and complete improvement projects on the plans.
  • Review and follow all safety rules, procedures, and practices for the safety of themselves, other employees and contractors.
  • Actively participate in all plant environmental, safety, and health training, policies and programs at the plant.
  • Any other related work as directed by the supervisor.

 

Qualifications:

Required Education

  • High School Diploma is required.  Post high school education and training is desired.  Such education and training could include a college or university education (Associate Degree), Trade School, Technical School or Apprenticeship Program.
  • Journeyman papers or equivalent education and experience in mechanical, electrical and instrumentation fields are required.  The job candidate is to submit a written description of qualifications and copies of certifications.
  • Verification of qualifications and abilities will be determined through an appropriate written assessment and hands-on skill testing.

Additional Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the performance of maintenance and/or construction of mechanical equipment and E&I systems in an industrial field.
  • Strong initiative (able to direct one's work efforts with little supervision).
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively.
  • Flexibility in approach to tasks and openness to change.
  • Ability to work normally daylight shift Monday through Friday with response to overtime, callouts, and emergency work, and other shifts as directed by management.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Abilities include eye-hand coordination, use of hands for gripping and twisting, mobility in climbing steps and ladders, working at elevated heights, working in confined spaces, squatting, lying down, standing, and walking, and strength in lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs.
