Summary of Position

The Test Development Engineering Manager is accountable for project, resource, and technical management related to all technical test capabilities for new products development for Advanced Energy.  The Test Engineering Manager demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives.  In this technical role, you will integrate and develop test process, methodologies, software, and manage complex issues within new product development and integration with manufacturing and global repair service.  You will develop and support test solutions for precision power products using off the shelf and custom test equipment.  You will be responsible for applicable hardware, software, and procedures for new product introduction and on-going product support.  Candidate should have a background in analog/rf/power test methodologies.
 

Essential Job Requirements

 

  • Manage a team of Test Development Engineers and technicians who develop functional and automated tests and execute them for projects and features.
  • Plan and oversee new development projects to include data analysis, test plan/flow, test procedure, test methodology, project management, test report preparation and failure investigation.
  • Test hardware implementation and documentation
  • Documentation of product test requirements
  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments as appropriate.
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.  Verify technical accuracy of work.
  • Detailed understanding of electronic components, component and unit test methodology, diagnostic and debug techniques.
  • General knowledge of quality and reliability principles.
  • Outstanding work ethic with a passion to meet commitments and schedules
  • Provide monthly engineering reports
  • Build and develop new capabilities, specifications & standards, personnel, equipment, and software to support company objectives
  • Draft, present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to clients.  Communicate technical issues with clients as required
  • Hire, train, and mentor other engineers and supporting staff; oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.
  • Write performance reviews and resolve internal issues
  • Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department.
  • Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing technical reports, approving expenditures, develop cost estimates, enforcing and develop rules and policies

 

Required Education

 

  • BSEE or equivalent

 

Required Experience

 

  • 7+ years electrical test engineering experience required
  • 4 years of team and project leadership requiring advanced planning, project management, and building a strong engineering team.
  • Able to troubleshoot electronic products, equipment & process.
  • Experience in software development and deployment.
  • Background in electronics with analog/rf/power test methodologies.
  • Experience in the management of test development engineers and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have the ability to understand trends in the market pertaining to test equipment and methodologies and advise senior management.

 

Required Skills

 

  • Must have high level programming knowledge and experience.  National Instruments Test Stand and LabVIEW preferred, but other high level languages are acceptable.
  • Must be able to work with electronic bench equipment (meters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators, network analyzer, etc.)
  • Must have initiative and ability to handle many active projects.
